A major part of our get-out-the-vote effort should be mail-in ballots in compliance with SC regulatory signature authority. Part of the successes of past elections were mail-in ballots by people of color. Registering people to vote is ok. However, voter statistics show the majority of them still do not vote. Authenticated mail-in ballots are actual countable votes. Our local high voters’ populations include Lower Richland, Gadsden, Hopkins and Eastover.
As an NAACP branch, how could we encourage the citizens of Lower Richland to register to vote and/or do mail-in-ballots?
Lorrie,
That is a good question. It may take boots on the ground, going door-to-door to encourage voter registration.
